Can we help NE Coachweb?

Did you notice the comment below from UoS graduate Matthew Briggs, who is now working on a social media strategy for Tyne & Wear Sport? Let’s put our heads together and help him out.

“I’m currently taking part in a shorter KTP at Tyne & Wear Sport. I did journalism at the University of Sunderland and now Philip Young is helping me with the promotion of our NE Coach – Tyne & Wear website. Not surprisingly he’s suggesting we launch a blog, which he thinks we should call Come on, Coach! It would be great if you could look at it and come up with some suggestions for a better title but more importantly how to get people using NE Coach.

“Our social media strategy aims to help coaches find work and training opportunities and also put anyone who want to get involved in coaching in contact with the correct people.

“It would be great to hear from you especially if you do coaching yourselves. Do you think Spark FM would be interested?

A possible new name for your blog could be “coachtrain”.

You may already be doing, or be in the process of doing these things, but here are my suggestions: I know we have learned design isn’t everything, but I would design the blog more professionally, using the same logo and typeface on your website if possible; Make sure to post regularly so that people continue to come back for more information; Use the organizations Twitter and Facebook accounts to publicize new blog posts; I see you have a latest news section on the website…Maybe you could build on those articles or provide further or related information in a blog post, to create content; Helpful blog posts could include interviews from coaches who have found work, and how they did so. I do like the blog name as it is. I hope these suggestions are somewhat useful 🙂

Thanks, Carly. Have you looked again at the blog since your post? We’ve added more content and made a few changes since then. If you could have another look and give me more feedback that would be great. I’ve just visited your blog and enjoyed the interview with Claire Verrill about her work placement.

I really like the new content! It sets you up for guaranteed content each week, with weekly interviews and the top tips. It also means people will be coming back regularly each week for this new information. Another suggestion, if it is possible, would be to link to the blog from the website.

And thanks for checking out my blog. Its definitely still a work in progress!

Thanks again Carly. We’re currently in the process of linking to the blog from the website so hopefully that should be working soon!

I’ll keep an eye on your blog. Hopefully it’ll help generate a few new ideas. I already think that video content is a really good idea and it’s something I’ll be looking to use on Come on, Coach!
